My dear friend, Amy Jirsa, has written a beautiful and magical book of herbal bliss: Herbal Goddess. Amy is a beautiful soul of many talents, including being a Master Herbalist, and her book explores 12 different healing herbs. In addition to details about the herbs and their various properties, she provides recipes for food, drinks, remedies, and body care, as well as meditations and yoga poses.

Amy and I met many years ago in a small graduate poetry workshop at the University of Maine (the only class I ended up taking towards my master's degree, as my late husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor mere weeks into the semester) and we were immediately drawn to each other. Despite the sometimes thousands of miles that often separated us in recent years, we have remained close, blessed friends and we are often each other's first reader for so many of our writing projects.

Throughout the challenges and trials of the last few years, I have always been so grateful for the light and love that Amy brings to my life and to the world. She is remarkable and special, beautiful both inside and out, and her grace touches everyone she meets.
